Week of
September 25, 2017
This was a tough weather week for us. The beginning of the week was so hot that we
spent the afternoons in the air conditioned PAC. We read books with each other and with other
classes. We also worked on recognizing
and naming letters of the alphabet by playing Around the World. Because of the heat we kept the children
inside, which meant it was the first opportunity we had to experience indoor
recess. It was great getting out all the
building toys and watching how creative and imaginative the kids worked
together.
Religion: This week we continued learning about how God
created animals and all his wonderful gifts to us.
Language Arts: This week we continued working with the /o/
sound at the beginning of a word. We
worked with comparing words that start with /c/ and /o/ sounds. We are working with recognizing and creating
rhyming words.
Math: This week we continued working on reading,
writing and counting to 5. We also
worked on understanding the number zero. This week we took our first test. We will review your child’s results at our
conference next week. We continued
working on reading, writing and counting to 5.
We are doing a great job counting to 50 by 1’s, and counting to 100 by
10’s.
Science & Social Studies: This week we enjoyed reading the
book I Went Walking by Sue
Williams. We were inspired to take a
walk around the block and make observations in order to write our own version
of the book. We hope to complete our
books next week.
COMING UP …
Next week a calendar and letter explaining Book It!
will be coming home. Each month a
calendar will come home. Fill in each
day that your child reads. At the end of
the month return the calendar (signed) and your child will receive a coupon for
a free Pizza Hut personal pan pizza.

illustrating a nature book.
